Welcome to Law.com Class Actions: Critical Mass, a weekly briefing for class action and mass tort attorneys. There's a lot more information to swallow about baby formula: increasing lawsuits, Congressional investigations and regulatory actions. Lawyers suing Facebook in the privacy case over Cambridge Analytica filed a second sanctions motion, this time over a deposition. I reached out to Motley Rice's Marlon Kimpson to ask: Why did more women of color than men of color get leadership appointments in multidistrict litigation?

Formula Recall Cases Cite Abbott's Prior Infractions

The U.S. shortage of baby formula prompted Congressional hearings last week and an FTC investigation. But it's also the focus of a growing number of lawsuits targeting Abbott, maker of Similac, whose closure of a Michigan plant and recall of products tied to two infant deaths contributed to the nation's supply problems. The lawsuits allege infants contracted Cronobacter sakazakii or Salmonella Newport after ingesting Abbott's formula. Parents also sued for economic damages.
