A federal judge has allowed a physician’s claim for intentional infliction of emotional distress to go forward against a former girlfriend who allegedly made false accusations that the doctor stalked and assaulted her, resulting in criminal charges against him.

Josephine Wallace, who had a brief relationship with Dr. Jad Khoraki, filed a motion to dismiss the claim for intentional infliction of emotional distress (IIED) against her after she allegedly made false police reports accusing Khoraki of domestic abuse, which led to his arrest and incarceration, according to an opinion filed Friday in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
