A Manhattan federal civil jury has found that The New York Times did not defame former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin with a 2017 editorial that falsely linked her political action committee to a mass shooting in Arizona.

The verdict, announced Tuesday afternoon, followed U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff’s announcement on Monday that Palin had not met the U.S. Supreme Court’s standard for “actual malice,” the high legal bar that public officials must meet in order to recover damages in defamation cases.
