Lawyers for more than 200 women alleging that they were sexually abused by a former gynecologist at the University of California, Los Angeles, announced a $243.6 million settlement on Tuesday.
The settlement is the second that UCLA has reached over Dr. James Heaps, who was a campus gynecologist from 1983 to 2018. The agreement, reached on behalf of 203 women, also is the latest involving sexual abuse claims against a university.
