Two days after Ilya Shapiro was placed on paid administrative leave instead of starting as the new executive director of Georgetown Law’s Center for the Constitution—and one day after students staged an on-campus protest against his continued employment—the National Bar Association issued a statement calling for Shapiro’s immediate termination.

On Monday,  Georgetown Law Dean William M. Treanor wrote in a letter to the law school community: “I am writing to inform you that I have placed Ilya Shapiro on administrative leave, pending an investigation into whether he violated our policies and expectations on professional conduct, non-discrimination, and anti-harassment, the results of which will inform our next steps.”
