McDermott Will & Emery has brought on Ari Edelman in New York as a partner in its capital markets group. Edelman, who comes from Reed Smith, is expected to be joined by several members of his team, including counsel Eric Klee.

Edelman said his move to McDermott, which he described as a “top-tier M&A firm,” was due in part to the amount of SPAC work he and his team have undertaken this year. “This past year I have taken about 15 SPACS public, many of whom are out there looking for targets,” he said. “They need a top-notch firm that can guide them through these complex transactions as they are negotiating to take them public.”
