“Absolutely crazy,” “unbelievable,” “makes no business sense,” and “off the charts.” These were the terms used by managing partners and senior lawyers at Brussels law firms to describe the more than $55,000 pay hike announced by Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati on Wednesday.

Though the move has been roundly criticized, interviews conducted by Law.com International with six managing partners and one senior partner reveal that Brussels law firms expect to moderately raise their salaries in response to the ongoing war for talent, rising inflation, burgeoning workloads, as well a number of other developments
