The chief financial officer of Huawei Technologies made a deal Friday in Brooklyn federal court to avoid jail time for bank fraud in return for cooperation with the U.S. Justice Department.

Meng Wanzhou of the People’s Republic of China, age 49, was arrested in Canada and arraigned on charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and wire fraud Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York before Judge Ann Donnelly.
