The Department of Justice on Tuesday asked a federal judge in Texas to immediately block the state’s abortion law.
The filing was made in the DOJ’s lawsuit against the law in the Western District of Texas, and asks for a preliminary injunction or temporary restraining order against the law, which authorizes civil lawsuits against abortion providers or others who help people obtain abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, typically six weeks into a pregnancy.
