Even though the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced an additional 60-day moratorium on residential evictions for nonpayment in areas with “high” or “substantial” COVID-19 transmission rates, which currently includes the entire state of Florida, some eviction lawyers say it still won’t protect most tenants.

The CDC rolled out the new moratorium on Tuesday, just three days after the agency’s national moratorium was allowed to expire at the end of July. The original moratorium on residential evictions was imposed last September.
