Coming on the heels of numerous lawsuits leveled against Connecticut private boarding schools alleging sexual misconduct against students, The Cheshire Academy has been hit with new litigation filed by a Pennsylvania lawyer on behalf of a woman who says a teacher sexually assaulted her there when she was 12 years old.

Other cases in the past two years have included litigation against several schools. A lawsuit against the Westover School alleges a teacher sexually abused a student in 2006 and 2007; a pending suit against The Hotchkiss School involves several plaintiffs, who alleged a teacher abused them in the 1990s; and a complaint accuses The Rumsey Hall School’s former dean of students of sexual assault that allegedly occurred decades ago. The Kent School also faces suit, with a former student alleging a French teacher sexually assaulted her in the late 1980s.
