The international arbitration community is mourning the passing of Emmanuel Gaillard, a former partner at Shearman & Sterling and a giant of the arbitration bar.
Known as much for his extensive academic and publishing work as for his legal accomplishments, Gaillard, 69, died suddenly and unexpectedly on April 1, according to a statement on the website of Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes, the boutique firm he just co-founded in February.
