A Princeton University professor has filed a lawsuit claiming his appointment to a prestigious academic group was revoked after he got into a public disagreement with colleagues in a dialogue on race at the Ivy League school.

The suit will test the plaintiff’s claim that the revoked appointment is a major loss because in academia such unpaid, honorary positions can be the key to career advancement.
