Less than two weeks after the election technology company Smartmatic sued the Fox News Network and several of its stars for defamation in connection with its 2020 presidential election coverage, the tone of the litigation turned tense in a discussion about filing deadlines.

Edward Wipper, senior counsel at Kishner Miller Himes and an attorney for Smartmatic, asked for a 60-day adjournment of the deadline to reply to the Fox defendants’ motions to dismiss the case.
