When Byung J. “BJay” Pak abruptly resigned and departed his job as U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Georgia on Monday, those around him expected his top assistant to take over in an acting role at least until the inauguration of the next president Jan. 20.
The predictable choice would be First Assistant U.S. Attorney Kurt Erskine.
