Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a law Wednesday requiring New York’s state court system to put together an annual report on the demographic information of state judges.
“Our courts should reflect the diversity of our state, but policymakers lack a complete picture of the demographics of our judiciary,” said state Sen. Brad Hoylman, who sponsored the legislation, in a statement.
