The Rwanda government has approved the production of medical cannabis for export, seeking to target fast-growing markets in the United States and Europe.

The Rwanda Development Board said in its announcement that the consumption of cannabis will remain prohibited in the country. But it will begin to receive applications for licenses from interested investors for “this high-value therapeutic crop.”
