Philadelphia Judge Jacqueline Allen, administrative judge of the First Judicial District's trial division, is set to be removed from that position at the end of the month, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Allen's impending departure from the administrative role comes amid the backdrop of a contentious relationship between her and the court's president judge, Idee Fox, sources said.

Leading up to the decision, "there has been a lot of talk about removing her. There have been concerns expressed about her leadership," one source said. "One in specific had to do with the brouhaha over the assignment of [Judge Anne Marie] Coyle over the expedited release of prisoners several months ago."
