Lucy Bassli, a former assistant general counsel at Microsoft, recounted the in-house counsel’s wish list earlier this year at Legalweek NY. It boiled down to a holistic offering that blends legal, tech and project management skills. And it was a cocktail she didn’t want to have to mix on her own.

“In-house people don’t want to manage all of it—we want law firms to be the ones to take on a general contractor role and maintain the relationship,” Bassli, founder of InnoLegal Services, said in February. “To best serve the client, don’t offer to introduce them to a new technology tool or a third-party service provider. Do it for them.”
