Chief Judge Janet DiFiore said Tuesday she would commission an independent review of the state court system’s response to issues of institutional racism following the death of George Floyd in Minnesota.
Jeh Johnson, a partner at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, will lead the evaluation, according to DiFiore’s statement. Johnson is a former secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
