Kennedys partner Ben Nicholson was among the Britons injured in the Sri Lankan bombings this weekend, while his wife—an in-house lawyer—and their two children were killed in the attacks.

Nicholson, who is based in Kennedys’ Singapore office, had been on holiday with his wife Anita and their two children.

The family had been staying at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo, one of the eight sites where the coordinated attacks took place on Sunday.

Anita Nicholson was a managing counsel at the mining company Anglo-America in Singapore, having previously worked at BHP Billiton and BP.

She was an associate at DLA Piper between 2001 and 2003, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Ben Nicholson has been a partner at Kennedys since 2015. He joined the firm from DAC Beachcroft, where he spent 15 years.

“It is with great sadness that we confirm Anita Nicholson, wife of our partner Ben, and their two children, Alex and Annabel were tragically killed in the Colombo bombings on Sunday,” Kennedys said in a statement. “We are in contact with Ben and supporting him in every way we can. Ben is now surrounded by the loving support of his family. This is devastating news and our thoughts are very much with Ben at this difficult time.

The latest reports put the death toll from the attacks at 310 people, with hundreds more injured.
