Simmons & Simmons has suspended its joint venture with Japanese firm TMI Associates as Tokyo office head Richard Kramer leaves to join Jones Day in the Japanese capital.
Simmons and TMI have had a foreign law JV in Japan since 2001, and regulatory requirements mean the UK firm needs to have at least one partner registered as a foreign lawyer in its Tokyo office to maintain the relationship.
