Neither counsel for embattled rapper Meek Mill, nor Philadelphia Judge Genece Brinkley, who has faced intense criticism from Mill’s legal team, showed any sign of backing down during a contentious hearing Monday into whether the hip-hop star should be granted a new trial.

The court conducted a roughly two-hour hearing in courtroom 908 of the Criminal Justice Center into whether Mill’s 2008 conviction of drug- and gun-related charges should be overturned. Mill, whose real name is Robert Williams, has pointed to what his team said are newly discovered credibility problems with the officer who arrested him and who was the only witness to testify at his trial.
