Pfefferkorn talks about the Department of Justice's push for so-called “responsible encryption,” and why we may soon see legislation that tries to force tech companies to ensure devices and communications can be unlocked. “I think we're seeing sort of a growing tide of voices, and this is a moment where 'going dark' can absolutely be brought in as one of the other problems [where] tech can be portrayed as being too big for its britches,” she says.
