Support for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the legal industry has gained significant momentum over the last several years. Efforts have increased to support DEI initiatives, and many firms now employ individuals in roles focused solely on DEI.

Every year, the State Bar of Texas’ Department of Research and Analysis publishes a statistical profile on racial/ethnic minority attorneys in Texas. The 2021-22 report shows that 23% of Texas lawyers who share demographics identify as racial/ethnic minorities. Although this number has increased over the past 10 years, the uptick is only a modest 6%.
