Pennsylvania is a “sole outlier among federal and state courts across the nation in refusing to apply quasi-judicial immunity to court-appointed guardians ad litem,” according to oral arguments Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel partner William Leonard made Thursday.

And during those arguments, Leonard urged the state Supreme Court to bring Pennsylvania in line with other jurisdictions and establish that GALs are shielded from legal malpractice claims.
