A Washington, D.C., jury took less than three hours on Thursday to convict Dustin Thompson, a 38-year-old man who traveled from Ohio to join the crowd breaking into the Capitol.

Take it from a former prosecutor—convictions after short deliberations mean that the evidence was not only powerful, but that the crime infuriated the jury. Thompson appeared on a video showing him celebrating amid the ransacked Senate Parliamentarian’s office, and he stole a tall wooden coat rack and a bottle of bourbon as souvenirs.
