Legal departments struggling to keep up with cost-cutting and workload demands should invest in reframing themselves as providing serious business value, instead of simply being cost centers.

That’s the central finding of a newly released report from Law.com Compass Pacesetter Research. While the report found that implementing technology can help departments boost efficiency, it also noted that as workloads grow “the law of diminishing returns asserts itself, and it quickly becomes apparent that efficiency alone will not legal department spend-management problems.”
