Amid criticisms over the handling of the two downed Boeing 737 Max 8 flights in the past year, Chicago-based aircraft maker Boeing announced the president of Boeing Japan is the company’s new general counsel.

Brett Gerry has been named the company’s new legal leader effective immediately. He will relocate from Tokyo to Chicago, according to the press release. He will lead the legal department, join the company’s executive council, and report to chairman, president and CEO Dennis Muilenburg.
