After a 30-year career of diplomacy and statecraft, Gary Locke has joined Dorsey & Whitney as a senior adviser to the firm’s international clients, the firm announced this week.

Locke was the governor of Washington from 1997 to 2005, and later served as President Obama’s Secretary of Commerce and Ambassador to China. He said in an interview he expects to work with Dorsey’s clients on both sides of the Pacific, ranging from manufacturers to health care facilities, in navigating international regulations in a part-time, non-lawyer role.
