Irell & Manella has added six corporate lawyers in its Los Angeles office, including transactional partner Joshua Grode. The team joins from Liner LLP. Grode, who will serve as cochairman of Irell’s transactional practice, is joined by of counsel Paul Swanson, corporate counsel Sam Kozhaya and associates David Evans, Esther Kang and Zachary Smith. Dana Fox has joined Shartsis Friese as of counsel in the San Francisco firm’s real estate group. Fox advises on leasing, land use, construction, finance and sophisticated commercial real estate transactions. She was a partner with Plageman Lund & Cannon in Oakland.

Asma Chandani has joined Dechert‘s Los Angeles office as counsel in the global funds group. Chandani focuses her practice on private equity, venture capital and cross-border transactions in emerging markets, representing prominent asset managers, financial institutions, sovereign wealth funds and family offices.

Halbert Rasmussen has joined the Los Angeles office of Arent Fox as a partner in its automotive group and complex litigation practice. Rasmussen, who had been a partner at Manning, Leaver, Bruder & Berberich, represents car, truck, bus and motorcycle dealers on issues that range from managing regulatory compliance programs and negotiating dealer agreements, to mergers and acquisitions.

Daniel Eliav has joined Nixon Peabody‘s Los Angeles office as an associate in the health-care practice. Eliav was previously an attorney with Covered California, the state’s new health insurance exchange, serving as the lead attorney for programs related to consumer assistance and outreach.

Sideman & Bancroft has hired David Cooper as global head of strategy and innovation in a business capacity with Sideman & Bancroft’s newly formed brand integrity and innovation group. Cooper comes from Hewlett-Packard Co., where he was director of global anticounterfeiting and global brand intelligence programs. He will help support Sideman & Bancroft’s clients in their brand protection programs focusing on return on investment, economies of scale and providing solutions at national, international and global levels.
