LinkedIn has hired Michael Callahan as its new general counsel, replacing Erika Rottenberg. Callahan was Yahoo’s general counsel from 2003 to 2012 and most recently was GC at real estate marketplace Auction.com. Jon Michaelson and Linda Usoz have joined Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton in Silicon Valley. Michaelson, who has a complex business litigation practice, spent the first 23 years of his career with Hopkins & Carley, followed by four years at Coudert Brothers before he and Usoz teamed up to launch a Palo Alto office for K&L Gates in 2005. Usoz, who joins the labor and employment group, started at Littler, Mendelson, Fastiff & Tichy, followed by nearly 12 years with Hopkins & Carley and four years at Coudert Brothers. Benjamin Horwich has joined Munger Tolles & Olson‘s San Francisco office as of counsel. He was an assistant solicitor general at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he argued 10 cases at the U.S. Supreme Court. He will focus his practice on complex litigation and appeals. Before joining the DOJ in 2009, he was with Latham & Watkins. He clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Sandra Day O’Connor as well as retired Northern District Judge Vaughn Walker and the late U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Edward Becker of the Third Circuit.

Louis Castoria has joined Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck as a partner in its San Francisco office and as the director of its West Coast professional liability practice group. He focuses his practice on defending professional liability cases in the financial services sector. Castoria comes from Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker, where he chaired the specialty professional risks practice group and cochaired the securities industry practice group.

Tanya Forsheit has joined Baker & Hostetler‘s privacy and data security practice as a partner in Los Angeles. She is joined by counsel Scott Koller. Forsheit comes from InfoLawGroup, a firm she helped launch in 2009, and is an IAPP-certified privacy professional, assisting clients with privacy and data protection issues, including compliance, contracts, complex regulatory schemes and large-scale litigation matters.

Joseph Brajevich has joined the government and regulatory group at Los Angeles’ Glaser Weil. He represents private and governmental entities in litigation, transactions and labor issues in connection with local government agencies. He was a Los Angeles assistant city attorney assigned to the city’s water and power department and counsel to the port of Los Angeles. He’s also been in private practice and was a legislative analyst prior to law school.

Jaremi Chilton, a partner in Locke Lord‘s Houston office, is joining the San Francisco office as a member of its corporate department and tax practice group. Chilton, who will work out of both offices, advises on a wide variety of cross-border investment transactions.
