Sean DeBruine has joined the Silicon Valley office of Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton from Alston & Bird. DeBruine, who represents technology companies in patent, copyright and trade secret cases, was previously the managing partner of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld’s Silicon Valley office. Venable added seven new attorneys to its Los Angeles office by acquiring Los Angeles-based litigation boutique Weingarten Brown. The group includes founding partner, Alex Weingarten, and six associates: Eric Bakewell, Varty Defterderian, Leslie Eggers, Logan Elliott, Jeffrey Logan and Micol Sordina. All are joining the firm’s commercial litigation practice.

Chris Laukenmann has joined Foley & Lardner as a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Laukenmann, previously a corporate partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, securities, finance, private equity, venture capital, restructuring and regulatory compliance. From 1997 to 2000, Laukenmann was assistant general counsel for Transamerica and its merger partner Aegon, where he was responsible for the company’s asset management division.

Blank Rome has added two litigation partners specializing in consumer class action defense in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Joshua Briones and Ana Tagvoryan join from DLA Piper. In addition to defending class actions, Briones and Tagvoryan handle trademark matters and counsel clients with respect to social media use, social media policies, privacy terms and conditions, and data collection practices.

Margaret Grover has joined Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean as a partner to its employment group. Grover, who previously was a partner with Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard, advises both employers and employees on workplace and regulatory issues. She also represents clients in employment litigation and works as a mediator.

Colt / Singer / Bea has added three associates. Litigators Katie Erno and Doug Tilley join the firm’s San Francisco office from Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan. Erno’s practice focuses on business torts in state and federal court, including professional malpractice, fraud, and breach of fiduciary duty cases. Tilley handles patent, copyright, False Claims Act and business tort litigation, as well as government and internal investigations. Joe Gabaeff, who specializes in intellectual property with an emphasis on interactive media and patent litigation, joined the firm’s Redwood Shores office from Heninger Garrison Davis.

Murphy Pearson Bradley & Feeney has added two associates in its San Francisco office. Matthew Taylor, previously at Deloitte, has joined as senior tax counsel. He represents lawyers and accountants, law firms, accounting firms and small to midsized businesses. Geoffrey Macbride has joined as associate. Macbride specializes in complex civil litigation, including product liability, and professional liability cases. He was previously at research attorney for the San Francisco Superior Court.

Gretchen Leach has joined Nossaman as an associate in the firm’s health-care practice. Based in Orange County, Leach represents health-care entities in a variety of proceedings, including medical staff peer reviews, license, writs and civil litigation. Leach previously was an attorney for the California Department of Health Care Services.
