Lloyd MacNeil has joined Dechert‘s corporate practice in Los Angeles. Most recently, he was partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. His practice focuses on the energy and infrastructure sector, advising on project development and financing as well as mergers and acquisitions. He graduated form Dalhousie Law School in 1994.

Steven Knott joined Nossaman as a partner in the litigation practice group in Los Angeles. Knott specializes in commercial disputes, insurance coverage, environmental and construction litigation. He received his J.D. from UC-Davis School of Law.

Brian Moreno, senior associate at Pasadena-based Richardson Harman Ober, has been admitted to the College of Community Association Lawyers.

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman announced that the following associates have been promoted to the partnership, effective Jan. 1, 2014: Patty DeGaetano, a member of the corporate and securities practice in San Diego North County, advises companies on SEC reporting and disclosure, corporate governance matters, federal and state corporate and securities law compliance. She earned her law degree from California Western School of Law in 2004. D. Benjamin Esplin, a member of the intellectual property practice in San Diego North County, is lead counsel on the firm’s social media and games team and focuses on development and monetization of intellectual property, patent filing strategies and patent preparation. He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 2007.

Mayer Brown announced the promotion of L.A.-based litigation and dispute resolution lawyer Matthew Marmolejo to partner, effective Jan. 1, 2014. Marmolejo represents American clients with business disputes in Latin America and Latin American clients involved in U.S. litigation in state and federal courts and in international arbitration proceedings. He is a 2005 graduate of Stanford Law School.

Jason Lang and David Singh have been promoted to counsel in Weil, Gotshal & Manges‘ Silicon Valley office, effective Jan. 1, 2014. Lang is a member of the firm’s patent litigation group and is also involved in IP counseling. He graduated from Emory University School of Law in 2003. Singh is a member of the complex commercial litigation group, where he focuses on breach of contract, consumer fraud class actions, and product liability cases and transactional risk assessment. He is a 2003 graduate from Cornell Law School.

Murphy, Pearson, Bradley & Feeney announced the promotion of San Francisco attorneys Simone McCormick, Arthur Harris, Kimberly Shields and Bryan Saalfeld to the partnership, effective Jan. 1, 2014. Los Angeles attorney Jeff Hsu will be promoted to director, effective Jan. 1, 2014. McCormick represents businesses and professionals in products liability, malpractice claims as well as business disputes and employment matters. She earned her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law in 2004. Harris focuses on commercial, business, professional liability and real estate litigation matters. He is a 2004 graduate from New College of California School of Law. Shields’ practice focuses on employment, premises, catastrophic injury and construction defect litigation. She graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2006. Hsu represents clients in civil litigation involving professional liability, intellectual property, real estate, construction defect and breach of contract. He graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2006. Saalfeld is dual-qualified in California and New York. His practice focuses on real estate, legal malpractice and premises liability. He earned his J.D. in 2005 from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati has elected Dale Bish and Daniel Koeppen to partner, effective Feb. 1, 2014. Bish, who is based in Palo Alto, specializes in helping technology companies with complex commercial litigation. He received his J.D. from the UC-Davis School of Law in 2004. Koeppen, who is based in San Diego, concentrates on general corporate representation, with particular expertise in the life sciences and technology sectors. He received his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law in 2004.

Munger Tolles & Olson has elected Los Angeles–based attorneys Hailyn Chen and Bethany Woodard Kristovich to its partnership, effective Jan. 1, 2014. Chen concentrates on complex civil litigation, particularly in the areas of antitrust, financial services and intellectual property, with an emphasis on trial work. She received her J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2003. Kristovich focuses on complex civil litigation with a particular emphasis on trial work and problems facing law firms. She earned her J.D. from USC Gould School of Law in 2005.

Sedgwick has promoted Daniel Bir to partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office, effective Jan. 1, 2014. Bir’s practice focuses primarily on the defense of equipment manufacturers in complex, multiparty disputes with an emphasis in product liability actions and general liability actions. He graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2003.
