Blank Rome partner David Kittner died April 18.
Kittner joined Blank Rome in 1956 as an associate in the firm’s tax group from the Internal Revenue Service, where he was a tax trial lawyer.
He was Blank Rome’s eighth attorney and was elected partner in 1961, according to a release.
He helped bring in the firm’s first public offering representation, and was a trusted adviser to many of the firm’s corporate clients, a release said.
Kittner, who was born in North Carolina, was a “Southern gentleman” with “indisputable charm and keen intelligence,” a release said.
Although he officially retired in 1989, Kittner remained active with the firm’s Philadelphia office. He was a regular at firm-sponsored CLEs and continued to be an active member of the bar.
In 2008, in partnership with the Samuel and Rebecca Kardon Foundation, Kittner presented the University of North Carolina School of Medicine’s department of ophthalmology with a gift to establish the Kittner Eye Center. The center created expanded patient care, educational services and clinical research projects, a release said.
Kittner was also a member of the Kardon Institute for Arts Therapy’s advisory council.
Services are scheduled for noon today at Joseph Levine & Sons Memorial Chapel, 4737 Street Road, Trevose, Pa. Burial will be private. Shiva is set to be observed at the late residence at 6:30 p.m. today.
