On July 29, suspended Judge Christopher Dupuy won a ruling that halted a hearing in which lawyers from the Texas Attorney General's Office sought to put him in jail for contempt. Yet two days later, Dupuy was put in jail anyway.

Dupuy was scheduled to stand before a state district judge on July 30 to show cause why he shouldn't be held in contempt for violating the court's gag order for allegedly commenting publically about his removal proceedings from Galveston County's County Court-at-Law No. 3.
