The Global 100, Gross Revenue
The total gross revenue (or "turnover," as our British colleagues call it) of The Global 100 was $40 billion for fiscal year 2001–02, the period covered by this survey. That's growth of more than 16 percent from the previous fiscal year. Newcomers to the list include Canada's Gowling LeFleur Henderson (ranked 97) and London's Hammond Suddards Edge (ranked 99), as well as a handful of Am Law 100 firms ranked from 93 to 100. Missing is the one-hit wonder Andersen Legal, which made a spectacular debut last year in a tie for ninth place. What a difference a year can make.
For U.S. firms, revenue figures are obtained from The Am Law 100, published in the July issue of The American Lawyer. For British firms, revenue figures are obtained from The Legal Business 100, published in the September issue of Legal Business. For Australian firms, revenue figures were obtained from BRW.com.au, Sept. 30, 2002. Figures for Canadian and European firms were obtained through reporting by the staffs of The American Lawyer and Legal Business. Conversion rates are averages for fiscal year 2001-02.
