John Kearney, a trial attorney who represents some of the nation’s leading companies in their most significant litigation issues, has become managing partner of Ballard Spahr’s Cherry Hill office effective July 1. He succeeds Steven Suflas, who will join the firm’s Denver office as its managing partner and will lead the expansion of Ballard Spahr’s labor and employment practice in the West. Kearney, who joined the firm a decade ago, represents clients in matters involving toxic torts, environmental litigation, class actions, product liability, and commercial litigation. In addition to his trial experience, he has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation. He is past chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Product Liability and Toxic Tort Section, past co-chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Camden County Bar Association, and a current trustee of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey. He also serves as an arbitrator in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and as a New Jersey Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

Robert Fodera has been elected a partner of Thomas, Thomas & Hafer. He heads the firm’s Hampton office. His areas of concentration are general liability and insurance defense. He was previously with Gebhardt & Kiefer in Clinton. He received his undergraduate degree from Pace University, Dyson College of Arts and Sciences (B.A.,1988), his Master’s Degree in Public Administration (M.P.A., 1990) from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, and his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark (J.D., 1997). He is a member of the Hunterdon County Bar Association and the Lehigh County (Pa.) Bar Association.
