Thornton Elected to Maritime Law Association Board
Kevin Thornton has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the United States Maritime Law Association (MLA). Thornton chairs the Maritime Law Practice Group at Cooper Levenson in Atlantic City, and is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Group as well. Riker Danzig Sponsors Newport 10,000
For the 10th year, Morristown’s Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti was the title sponsor of the Riker Danzig Newport 10,000, which took place on May 3 at Newport, a 600-acre community on the Jersey City waterfront. Newport is a client of the firm. More than 80 runners participated on the Riker Danzig team, joining another 1,300 runners, to benefit Jersey City Medical Center. Student Awarded Wilson Elser Scholarship
Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker has presented its Thomas W. Wilson Sr. Scholarship for the 2014–2015 school year to Amanda Rubin (shown), the daughter of Alan Rubin, the firm’s director of finance. In the fall, Miss Rubin will enter her junior year at Cornell University. The annual scholarship, named for one of the firm’s founders, was established to support the education of children of full-time Wilson Elser employees. It provides the recipient with $10,000 per year for up to four years at an accredited college or university or upon graduation, whichever occurs first.
Rutgers Mock Trial Celebrates Winning Season
On April 30, the Rutgers University Mock Trial Association (RUMTA) marked the end of its season at Mike’s Courtside Restaurant in New Brunswick. The team celebrated the graduation of outgoing president Gregory Cui, who will attend Harvard Law School in the fall. RUMTA celebrated with Bruce Marich and Ken Johnson of the Rutgers Alumni Association (RAA). Johnson, the president of the RAA, presented Gregory Cui with “The President’s Award” in honor of his service to the Rutgers community.
