VLJ, Legal Services Present Awards

Volunteer Lawyers for Justice presented its “Heroes of Sandy” awards on Dec. 3 during its Arts & Eats for Justice Gala at the Newark Museum in Newark. Law firms recognized for providing extensive legal services to hurricane victims through VLJ are Drinker Biddle & Reath, Florham Park; Duane Morris, Newark; Gibbons, Newark; Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla, Red Bank; Jackson Lewis, Morristown; McCarter & English, Newark; Patton Boggs, Newark; and Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti, Morristown. In addition, the Legal Services Foundation of Essex County, of which VLJ is its largest grantee, presented its annual service awards: the Dickinson Debevoise Award to Connell Foley in Roseland and the Douglas Eakeley Award to Robert Steinbaum, publisher of the New Jersey Law Journal.

Drinker Raises $2,583 for Heart Association

Thirty-two Drinker Biddle & Reath lawyers, staffers and their families participated in the three-mile American Heart Association Heart Walk on Oct. 18 at the Mack-Cali Campus in Parsippany. The team raised $2,583, and paralegal Tracey Groel placed third among women who finished the race.

Einhorn, Harris, Ascher, Barbarito & Frost in Denville is helping sponsor and mentor the Valleyview Middle School’s Mock Trial Club in Denville. A founding member of the firm, Theodore E.B. Einhorn, presented a $1,200 check on Nov. 18 to John Paragian, school board president, and Mark Hoffman, club faculty adviser.
