The New Jersey State Bar Association’s Nominating Committee is accepting applications from the general membership for a number of influential positions, including officers, trustees and delegates to the American Bar Association.
The positions become available in May and candidates must declare their intention to run. Letters of intent are due at noon on Dec. 6.
The available positions are:
Officers: One-year positions of president-elect, first vice president, second vice president, treasurer and secretary are available.
Board of Trustees:
County Trustees: One seat, each for a two-year term is open for each of the following counties: Bergen, Burlington, Cumberland, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Mercer, Morris, Passaic, Salem and Warren counties.
At-Large Trustees: Three seats, each for a two-year term, are available for members from the following under-represented groups, as designated by the board, age over 70, Asian-American and Hispanic.
Section/Committee Trustees: Three seats, each for a two-year term, are available. Sections and committees that are precluded from sponsoring a candidate are: Casino Law Section, Equity Jurisprudence Committee, Government and Public Sector Lawyers Committee, Individual Rights Section, Labor and Employment Section and Women in the Profession Section.
Young Lawyers Division Trustee: One seat for a two-year term is available.
Nominating Committee: One seat for a two-year term is available.
ABA House of Delegates: Two seats, each for a two-year term, are available.
