Louis Acevedo, deputy public defender in charge of the Bergen County criminal trial region in Hackensack, was sworn in on Nov. 26 as president of the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey at Seasons in Washington Township. The other officers are president-elect Anna Maria Tejada, of counsel at Kaufman Dolowich Voluck & Gonzo in Hackensack; northern region vice president Monica E. de los Rios, counsel at JPMorgan Chase Bank in Newark; southern region vice president Carmen Garcia, associate board member of the New Jersey Parole Board in Trenton; treasurer Michael Plata, partner at Plata, Ferrer & Gutiérrez in Guttenberg; recording secretary J. Andres Mayor, senior associate at Day Pitney in Parsippany; and membership secretary Julia López, a clerk for the U.S. District Judge Esther Salas, Newark.
