Curtin Named to ABA Board of Governors


 

Thomas Curtin, shown, a partner with Graham Curtin in Morristown, was named to a three-year term on the American Bar Association Board of Governors on Aug. 7. Curtin will serve as the governor from New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Porzio Attorney Selected As ABA Young Lawyers ‘Star’


 

Genevieve Spires, shown, counsel at Porzio, Bromberg & Newman in Morristown, was named a “Star of the Year” by the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division for 2011-12. Spires, who works in the firm’s life sciences practice group, was honored for her work as the division’s communications and technology director. The award was announced during the ABA annual meeting in Chicago Aug. 2-7.

Sills Cummis Hosts Field Trip for Students

Sills Cummis & Gross hosted a field trip at its Newark office for students of the New Jersey Law and Education Empowerment Project (NJ LEEP) Summer Law Institute on July 12. NJ LEEP helps urban students in grades eight to 12 to perform at high academic levels by building skills through law-related, mathematical and other educational programs and through exposure to role models who have achieved academic and professional success. The institute is for ninth graders; they participate in a five-week criminal law course taught by students from Seton Hall University School of Law and other law schools. About 40 students met with Sills Cummis attorneys from different practice areas.

Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti hosted its annual Women in Leadership reception at the Westin Governor Morris in Morristown on June 19. The guest speaker was actress, playwright and author Tina Sloan, who spoke about her autobiography, Changing Shoes. Sloan also starred as “Lillian Raines” on the long-running soap opera Guiding Light.
