More than 100 people were trained as volunteers Monday for the New York City Bar Association’s Lawyers Assistance Program, a free, confidential service for attorneys, judges, law students and their family members who struggle with substance abuse and mental health issues.

The six-hour session featured Patricia Spataro, director of the New York State Bar Association’s Lawyers Assistance Program, which co-sponsored the training with the city bar and the Brooklyn Bar Association’s Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee.
