Kay Crawford Murray receives the George Bundy Smith Pioneer Award from the New York State Bar Association Commercial and Federal Litigation Section at its annual Smooth Moves program, held at Lincoln Center’s Rose Building on Tuesday. The award was first given in 2007 to George Bundy Smith (right), a former Court of Appeals judge, for his work in the civil rights movement and his 30 years of public service as a judge.

Murray was general counsel for the New York City Department of Juvenile Justice from its creation in 1979 until her retirement in 2002. She continues to serve on the First Department’s Committee on Character and Fitness.
