A lawyer whose clients have included Joey Buttafuoco and Jessica Hahn has been arrested. Dominic Barbara entered a not guilty plea in a Long Island court yesterday on a misdemeanor charge that he violated an order of protection. Police allege he sent a text-message to a law firm representing his ex-wife. He was freed on $500 bail and is due back in court next month.
Barbara was suspended from practicing law in 2011 for 18 months after being found guilty of professional misconduct. When suspending Barbara, the Appellate Division, Second Department, faulted him for missteps such as not refunding unearned fees paid in advance and not issuing itemized bills (NYLJ, Feb. 15, 2011).
