Morrison & Foerster has hired Jonathan Melmed, formerly head of Chadbourne & Parke’s Canada practice, to lead its private equity practice in New York. Melmed represents private equity funds, hedge funds, investment banks and other corporations in M&A and complex corporate transactions, according to a press release from Morrison. His clients have included Strategic Value Partners, OMERS Capital Partners, EnerTech Capital, BMO Capital, Morguard and Harbinger Capital Partners.

“We expect Jonathan to be a strong leader in our practice,” said Hendrik Jordaan, global chair of the firm’s private equity investments and buyouts practice, in the press release. “He has an impressive deal list and a deep understanding of the dynamics of private investment funds.”
