Freeborn & Peters (Chicago): Shelly DeRousse joins the firm’s bankruptcy and financial restructuring practice group as partner in the Chicago office and will focus on bankruptcy, workouts, litigation and asset sales. Previously, DeRousse was a partner at Stahl Cowen Crowley Addis.

Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell (Los Angeles): Eric Fromme joins the firm’s bankruptcy group as partner in the Irvine, Calif., office and will focus on financial and restructuring matters. Previously, Fromme was a partner at Rutan & Tucker.

Kirkland & Ellis (Chicago): Andrew Calder joins the firm’s corporate practice as partner in the Houston office and will focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate and securities law, and corporate governance. Previously, Calder was a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.

K&L Gates: Scott Oliver joins the firm’s intellectual property litigation practice as partner in the Palo Alto office and will focus on patent, copyright, trade secrets and technology-related disputes. Previously, Oliver was a partner at Morrison & Foerster. Additionally, Nicola Di Giovanni joins the firm as partner in the Paris office and will focus on corporate matters. Previously, Di Giovanni was a partner at Baker & McKenzie.

MendenFreiman (Atlanta): James Kanner joins the firm as partner in the Atlanta office and will focus on business matters, estate planning and administration. Previously, Kanner was a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough.

Otterbourg (New York): John Hanley joins the firm’s corporate group as ­partner in the New York office and will focus on the leveraged-loan market and related transactions. Previously, Hanley was a partner at Carter Ledyard & Milburn.

White & Case: Colin Harley joins the firm’s global banking practice as partner in the London office and will advise financial sponsors and alternative capital providers on all forms of borrower finance. Previously, Harley was a partner at Maclay Murray & Spens.

Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker (New York): Michael McCloskey joins the firm’s national securities practice as partner in the San Diego office and will focus on commercial matters involving federal securities fraud, state and federal derivative actions, and anticompetitive business practice claims. Previously, McCloskey was a partner at Foley & Lardner.

NEW ARRIVALS

Baker & McKenzie: Harry Valetk joins the firm’s global privacy and North America international commercial practices as counsel to the New York office and will advise multinational companies on privacy and data-protection matters. Previously, Valetk was director of the global privacy office at MetLife Inc.

Blank Rome (Philadelphia): James Odell joins the firm as partner in the finance, restructuring, and bankruptcy group and co-leader of the’ financial services industry team in the New York office and will focus on matters in the financial sector. Previously, Odell was managing director and head of legal for the Depository Trust & Clearing Corp.

Dechert: Jeffrey Brown joins the firm’s litigation team as partner in the New York office and will focus on litigation and trial matters. Previously, Brown was co-chief of the general crimes unit for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.

Nilan Johnson Lewis (Minneapolis): John Levy joins the firm’s business transactions and real estate group as special counsel and will focus on corporate and business law. Previously, Levy was a partner at Henson & Efron.

Vedder Price (Chicago): Michael Riela joins the firm’s bankruptcy and creditors’ rights group as partner in the New York office and will focus on bankruptcies and out-of-court workouts. Previously, Riela was counsel to Latham & Watkins.
