Cravath, Swaine & Moore (New York): David Kappos joins the firm as partner in the New York office and will focus on complex intellectual property issues. Previously, he was undersecretary of commerce and director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Barnes & Thornburg (Indianapolis): David Durm joins the firm’s real estate department as partner in the Indianapolis office and will focus on acquisitions, dispositions, development, financing, leasing and joint ventures. Previously, Durm was general counsel at Altisource Asset Management Corp.
K&L Gates: David Ehrenwerth joins the firm’s real estate investment, development and finance practice as partner in the Pittsburgh office and will focus on real estate development, finance and complex joint ventures. Previously, Ehrenwerth was associate commissioner of the U.S. Public Buildings Service.
Littler Mendelson (San Francisco): Jacob Modla joins the firm as partner in the Charlotte, N.C., office and will focus on labor and employment matters. Previously, Modla was vice president of human resources operations and supply chain at Family Dollar Stores Inc.
Phelps Dunbar (New Orleans): Jeffrey Baudier joins the firm’s business and finance service areas in the Baton Rouge, La., office and will focus on transactions for oil-and-gas exploration and production companies. Previ­ously, Baudier was president and chief executive officer of Petra Nova LLC.
Sills Cummis & Gross (Newark, N.J.): Steven Rothman joins the firm as partner and chairman of the newly formed interdisciplinary defense industry group. Rothman will focus on litigation, government relations and corporate matters for aerospace and defense-sector clients. Previously, he served as a congressman representing New Jersey’s ninth congressional district.
Venable (Washington): Lisa Keenan joins the firm’s health care group as of counsel to the Baltimore office and will focus on joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, contracts and employment agreements in the health care field. Previously, Keenan was general counsel and secretary for Biomarker Strategies.
Baker & McKenzie: John Mitchell joins the firm’s corporate and securities practice as partner in the Dallas office and will focus on complex bankruptcy matters. Previously, Mitchell was a partner at Vinson & Elkins.
Drinker Biddle & Reath (Philadel­phia): Heath Rosenblat joins the firm’s corporate restructuring practice group as counsel to the New York office and will focus on representing secured lenders, debtors, receivers and trustees. Previously, Rosenblat was counsel to King & Spalding.
Fox Rothschild (Philadelphia): Diane Geller joins the firm’s labor and employment law practice as partner in the West Palm Beach, Fla., office and will focus on the staffing industry. Previously, Geller was a partner at Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore.
Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher (Los Angeles): Arthur Long joins the firm’s financial institutions and securities regulation practice groups as partner in the New York office and will focus on financial institution regulation. Previously, Long was a partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell.
McGuireWoods: Neil Rust joins the firm’s banking and finance group as partner in the Los Angeles office and will focus on mergers and acquisitions. Previously, Rust was a partner at White & Case.
