Alston & Bird (Atlanta): James Evans Jr. joins the firm’s litigation team as partner in the Los Angeles office and will focus on complex litigation, alternative dispute resolution and employment law. Previously, Evans was a partner at Fulbright & Jaworski.

 

 

Ballard Spahr (Philadelphia): Glen Trudel joins the firm’s consumer financial services group as partner in the Wilmington, Del., office and will focus on financial services and banking regulatory matters. Previously, he was a partner at Connolly Bove Lodge & Hutz.

 

Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott (Pittsburgh): Kevin Allen joins the firm’s litigation practice as partner in the Pittsburgh office and will focus on contractual disputes and business torts. Previously, Allen was a partner at Thorp Reed & Armstrong.

Fox Rothschild (Philadelphia): William Levinson joins the firm as co-chairman of the firm’s financial services industry practice group in the Los Angeles office and will focus on strategic corporate, securities, real estate and financing transactions. Previously, Levinson was a partner at Greenberg Traurig.

Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton (Atlanta): Stephen Reiter joins the firm’s intellectual property department as counsel to the San Diego office and will focus on patent matters in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Previously, Reiter was of counsel to Foley & Lardner.

SNR Denton: Matthew Harper joins the firm’s intellectual property and technology practice as partner in the Dallas office and will focus on patent litigation, complex commercial litigation, trade secrets litigation and business counseling. Previously, Harper was a partner at Thompson & Knight. Additionally, Eddie Frastai joins the firm’s real estate practice as partner in the New York office and will focus on national real estate transactions. Previously, Frastai was special counsel to Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.

Venable (Washington): Stacie Tobin joins the firm’s commercial litigation group as partner in the Baltimore office and will focus on litigating commercial disputes, with an emphasis on real estate matters. Previously, Tobin was a partner at DLA Piper.

NEW ARRIVALS

DLA Piper: Kathleen Birrane joins the firm’s insurance and ­reinsurance sector and its litigation practices as of counsel to the Baltimore office. She will focus on global insurance and reinsurance transactional and regulatory matters on behalf of insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries, risk managers and investors. Previously, Birrane was senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Maple Life Financial Inc.
 

Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart (West Palm Beach, Fla.): Elaine Bucher joins the firm’s private wealth services practice as partner in the West Palm Beach office. She will focus on wills and trusts and estates, concentrating on estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax issues. Previously, Bucher was senior counsel to Proskauer Rose.

Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp (Los Angeles): Adam Mehr joins the firm’s entertainment and new-media practice and its corporate and business transactions practice as of counsel to the Los Angeles office. He will focus on entertainment-related business, financial and legal matters. Previously, Mehr was executive vice president for business affairs and general counsel of Gold Circle Films.

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett (New York): Joe Wayland rejoins the firm’s New York office as partner in the litigation practice and will focus on antitrust matters. Previously, Wayland was acting chief of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division.
